YEAST BISCUITS 
1 pkg. yeast
2 tbsp. lukewarm water
2 c. self-rising flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. buttermilk

Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Let stand 5 minutes. Stir flour, soda and sugar together. Add shortening. Add buttermilk to yeast mixture. Add to flour mixture a little at a time. Turn dough out on floured board. Knead several times. Roll out 1/2 inch thick, cut out. Place on ungreased pan. Bake in oven at 450 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
