PUMPKIN BREAD 
2 2/3 c. sugar
4 beaten eggs
3 1/3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. water
2/3 c. shortening
2 c. pumpkin
2/3 c. dates or 2/3 c. walnuts (optional)

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, pumpkin, and water; mix well. Sift dry ingredients and add to pumpkin mixture. Bake in two greased bread pans at 350 degrees for 1 hour. If you want to make 4 small loaves with this recipe, bake for 50 minutes.
