SALLY'S OLD FASHION BREAD | |
10 - 12 c. flour 4 1/2 tsp. yeast 3 tsp. salt 6 tbsp. sugar 6 tbsp. butter 4 c. milk 2 eggs Measure about 4 cups flour. In in yeast, salt and sugar in large bowl. Scald milk with butter. Add about a quarter of the milk to the flour mixture; mix well. Add 1 egg, mix well. Add more flour, another quarter of milk; stir. Add second egg, mix well; more flour. Another quarter of the milk, more flour, last of milk. Add flour until dough is kneading consistency. Place on a floured kneading board, knead for 10 minutes. Place in a large greased bowl, making sure the top of the dough is also greased, on stove top (set oven at 200°F) for 1 hour or until dough is doubled in bulk. Put back on floured kneading board. Divide into 4 parts. Knead each loaf; place in greased pans. Place back on stove top until loaves are doubled in size. Bake at 350°F for 20 - 30 minutes or until a golden brown. Enjoy! |
