WHITE WALNUT BARS 
2/3 c. shortening
3/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour, scant
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4-1 c. black walnuts
1/2 lb. white raisins

Cream shortening and sugars. Add eggs, one at a time and vanilla. Beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients. Mix and add raisins and nuts.

Using as little flour as possible, shape into 4 rolls the lengths of our cookie sheet. Roll onto cookie sheet and flatten to about 1/4 inch thick. Brush the top with beaten egg and bake 13 minutes at 375 degrees. Do Not Overbake. When cool, cut into 1 inch slices.
