ANGEL COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. Crisco shortening
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2-1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. finely chopped nuts (optional)
1/2 c. tiny chocolate chips (optional)

Cream shortenings and sugars; add egg and blend well.

Stir or sift dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture. Blend well.

Shape into walnut-sized balls, dip tops in colored sugar. Arrange on greased baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
