DATE NUT ORANGE BREAD 
2 c. pitted chopped dates
1 med. orange
1 egg
2 tbsp. vegetable oil
2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. boiling water
1/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
1 1/2 c. walnuts, chopped

Pit chopped dates in hot water; set aside. Grate orange rind, peel off orange, cut off pulp and seeds, put in blender until smooth. Add date, orange, sugar, eggs and oil; mix thoroughly. Sift flour, soda and salt, stir until moistened. Fold in nuts. Bake at 325 degrees for 35 minutes, 2 (7 1/2" x 3 1/2") loaf pans.
