3 c. milk 4 tbsp. sugar 2 tsp. salt 3/4 c. shortening 2 eggs, beaten 4 yeast cakes or pkg. 1/2 c. warm water Flour Heat milk, pour over sugar, salt and shortening. Let cool until lukewarm. Add well beaten eggs and yeast dissolved in warm water. Add enough flour to make a fairly stiff dough. Let rise until double. Roll out and cut in shape. Let rise again and fry in deep hot fat. Drain, dip in glaze or roll in sugar. To make glaze mix together 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar and 3 tablespoons boiling water. |
