THICK N CHEWY OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 c. raisins
1 c. boiling water
1 c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 1/4 c. old fashioned oats
1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground allspice
1/4 tsp. ground cloves

Place raisins in a bowl; cover with boiling water. Let stand for 5 minutes; drain. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Combine the oats, flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, allspice and cloves; gradually add to the creamed mixture. Stir in raisins. Drop by tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto lightly greased baking sheets.

Bake at 350°F for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool.

Makes about 2 dozen.
