OATMEAL CRINKLE COOKIES 
1 c. flour
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 egg
3/4 c. oatmeal
Granulated sugar
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

In mixing bowl place the flour, sugars, soda and baking powder. Stir to mix. Add shortening, egg and vanilla; beat until blended. Stir in oats and nuts. Form into small balls; roll in granulated sugar and place on a cookie sheet, allowing room for cookies to flatten. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Yield: 40 cookies. This cookie flattens and forms a crinkly top during baking.
