CHERRY DREAM CAKE 
2 1/2 c. flour, sifted
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. milk
1/2 c. cherry juice
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. almond extract
4 egg whites, unbeaten
18 maraschino cherries, finely chopped
1/2 c. walnuts or pecans, finely chopped

Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Drop shortening into flour mixture. Combine milk, cherry juice, and flavorings. Add 3/4 of this liquid and beat. Add remaining liquid and egg whites; beat. Add cherries and nuts; blend.

Bake at 350 degrees in a tube pan for approximately 40 minutes until browned and top springs back to the touch. Ice with Comfort Icing.
