PAPER BAG APPLE PIE 
Pastry for 1 crust (9-inch) pie
5 c. sliced, cored, peeled cooking apples
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. presifted flour
2 tbsp. presifted flour
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2 tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 c. butter

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Line 9-inch pie plate with pastry. Arrange apples in plate. Combine 1/2 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, nutmeg and lemon juice; mix well. Sprinkle over apples.

Combine remaining sugar (1/2 cup), 1/2 cup flour, and shortening to make crumbs; sprinkle over apples. Slide into large brown paper bag. Fold end over twice; secure with paper clips. Put on a baking sheet. Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour.
