1/2 c. shortening
2/3 c. milk (sweet)
1/2 tsp. salt
3 egg whites
1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
Vanilla

Cream shortening. Add sugar and cream again. Stir in alternately dry ingredients and milk. Fold in egg whites. Frost with a caramel icing.

CARAMEL ICING:

2 c. sugar
1 c. cream
1 tbsp. Crisco
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. brown sugar

Add to other ingredients and cook until it forms a soft ball in water.
