DR. GAMBLE'S FRUIT CAKE 
1 c. flour, sifted
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
3 c. pecan halves
1 1/2 c. watermelon pickles, cut in pieces & drained
1 c. Maraschino cherries, quartered
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift first 3 ingredients into a large mixing bowl. Add nuts and fruit to dry ingredients. Blend in eggs and vanilla. Stir until well mixed. Line a 9 x 5 x 3 inch pan with foil, leaving extra around the top of pan. Fold extra foil down outside of pan. Test with toothpick. Cool. Fold foil over top to seal for storage.
