OLD TIME COFFEE CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. butter
1 c. cold coffee
2 c. raisins
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. coconut
4 c. flour

FILLING:

1 c. sugar
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. flour

Put just enough mixture to cover pan, about 1/4 inch deep. The thinner the layer, the better the cake. Bake at 350 degrees until done. Test with straw. If it comes out clean, the layer is done. Cool.

Mix the filling. Put sugar, flour and milk in iron skillet and cook until it thickens. Beat until cool and add vanilla. Put between layers. This cake should have 6 thin layers. "The filling never gets hard."
