A CHILDREN'S FAVORITE 
This recipe was on a package of flour - years ago.

I can say 45 years.

All ingredients at room temperature 70 to 75 degrees.

Sift together into your mixing bowl:

2 c. plus 2 tbsp. flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt

Add:

1/2 c. soft butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. milk

Mix well with beater.

Add:

1/3 to 1/2 c. unbeaten egg

Beat well for 2 minutes.

Pour batter into prepared pan 9x13 (a best choice).

Bake at 350 degrees until done.

CREAMY COCOA ICING FOR FAVORITE CAKE:

Mix together thoroughly:

2 tbsp. flour
3 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
Blend in 1 c. milk

Cook slowly over direct heat for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring constantly until mixture is thickened and glossy. Blend in 1 teaspoon vanilla and 2 tablespoons butter. Cool icing slightly before spreading on the cooled cake. For extra glee: cover with nuts or small marshmallows.
