1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. cocoa
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. boiling water

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs. Sift dry ingredients 3 times; add to sugar, shortening, and eggs. Add boiling water. Bake in 2 floured and greased cake pans at 350 degrees.

FROSTING:

3 tbsp. shortening
1 1/2 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. cocoa
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
7 tbsp. hot milk (bring to boil)
1 box powdered sugar
