1 c. hot water
1 c. pitted dates or raisins
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. mayonnaise
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts

Combine hot water with raisins, let stand 5 minutes. Add soda. Cream mayonnaise with sugar. Sift dry ingredients together. Combine dry ingredients with mayonnaise, then add the raisins and water. Add vanilla and nuts. Bake in 9x13 inch floured and greased pan at 375 degrees for 25 minutes.
