LENTIL SOUP 
2 c. lentils
3 tbsp. butter
1 lg. onion, chopped
5 c. water
5 beef bouillon cubes OR a large marrow bone
1 tsp. each - cumino, salt & pepper
Lemon juice, 1/2 to 1 lemon
2 grated carrots
Bits of ham may be sprinkled on at serving

Wash lentils. Make onions yellow in a large soup pot. Add remaining ingredients except carrots. Simmer several hours. Mash all slightly and add carrots, simmering 15 minutes more.
