APPLESAUCE CAKE 
1/2 lb. dates
1/2 lb. figs
1 lb. raisins
1 lb. chopped nuts
1 lb. mixed fruit (fruitcake mix)
2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
4 1/2 c. flour
3 c. applesauce
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

Boil applesauce, butter, and sugar for 5 minutes. Cool; add soda, flour, nuts, and fruits. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or 1 1/2 hours.
