RUSSIAN TEA CAKES (SNOWBALLS) 
1 c. soft butter
1/2 c. confectioners sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix together and add to the first part:

2 1/2 c. flour, sifted
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. nuts, chopped

Mix flour and salt. Stir in nuts. Form into 1 inch balls. Place about 2 inches apart on baking sheet. Bake 14 to 17 minutes at 400 degrees until delicately brown. While still warm roll in powdered sugar. Let cool, then roll in powdered sugar again. Makes 5 dozen.
