OATMEAL SQUARES 
3/4 c. butter
1 c. dark brown sugar
3 c. quick cooking rolled oats
1/8 tsp. salt

In an 8 x 8 square or 9 x 9 pan over low heat barely melt the butter. Meanwhile, mix together in a rather large bowl the brown sugar, oatmeal, and salt. Stir in the melted butter until blended. Tip the whole business back into the buttered pan and pat with palms and fingers until even and firm. Bake at 350 degrees 15 minutes. While still hot, mark deeply into even squares using a ruler as your guide while cutting.
