BREAD PUDDING 
1 loaf French bread
1 qt. milk
3 eggs, well beaten
2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. vanilla
3 tbsp. butter
1 c. raisins

Tear bread into pieces and soak in milk until well saturated. Add eggs, sugar, vanilla, and raisins to bread and milk mixture; stir well. Melt butter in bottom of thick pan; add bread mixture. Bake in 350 degree oven for about 45 minutes or until firm. Cube pudding and put in individual dessert dishes. Serve warm with sauce (see below).

IRISH WHISKEY SAUCE:

1/4 c. butter
2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 c. light cream
Dash of nutmeg
1/4 c. whiskey

In the double boiler, beat butter and brown sugar until light and creamy. Beat in egg, cream, and nutmeg until fluffy. Cook over hot (not boiling) water until thick, stirring frequently. Remove from heat, gradually whisk in whiskey. Serve warm or cold with pudding. Makes 2 1/2 cups of sauce.
