BUTTER COOKIES 
3 c. flour
1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. cream of tartar

Sift dry ingredients, all except sugar. Cut in the butter. Beat eggs and add sugar and vanilla. Combine the two mixtures. Refrigerate one hour. Roll; cut and bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Makes 36 large cookies.
