THE ABSOLUTE BEST CHOCOLATE CHIP
COOKIES
 
2 sticks butter
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. granulated sugar
3/4 c. light brown sugar, firmly packed
2 lg. eggs
2 1/4 c. unsifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. hot water
2 c. walnuts
2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Cream the butter with salt, vanilla, and both sugars; beat well. Add about half of the flour. In a small cup, stir the baking soda into the hot water to dissolve it, then mix into the dough. Add the remaining flour and beat only to mix. Stir in the walnuts and the chips. Drop by teaspoon on foil-covered cookie sheets and bake 8 to 10 minutes at 350 degrees.

Add eggs and beat well.
