BOSC PEARS IN BURGUNDY 
Make exclusively for Saks Fifth Avenue by The Silver Palate.

2 c. Burgundy wine
1 c. sugar
A few whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick
6 peeled Bosc pears

Combine Burgundy wine with sugar. Add a few whole cloves and a cinnamon stick. Bring to a simmer and add 6 peeled Bosc pears. Simmer until tender; about 15 minutes. Remove pears from liquid. Continue to cook liquid for another 15 minutes. Pour liquid over pears in attractive jar and cool. You now have a lovely jar filled with poached pears in a deep red liquid. Tie a green and white ribbon around the jar for more color.
