BLACK DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE 
2 c. flour
1 1/3 c. sugar
1/2 c. cocoa
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. baking soda
1 egg
2/3 c. salad oil
1 c. buttermilk or sour milk
1 c. boiling, strong coffee

Put all dry ingredients in bowl. Add egg, oil, milk. Mix well. Add boiling coffee. Batter will be thin. Bake in 9x13 inch greased pan for 40 minutes at 350 degrees.

MOCK WHIP CREAM FROSTING:

Beat until creamy:

1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Boil until thick:

5 tbsp. flour
1 c. milk

Cool milk and flour thoroughly. Add to sugar and butter and beat five minutes.

Add:

1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Spread over devil's food cake.
