TOFFEE SQUARES | |
1 c. butter 1 egg yolk 1/4 tsp. salt 1 c. brown sugar, packed 1 tsp. vanilla 2 c. all-purpose flour 1 (12 oz.) bag milk chocolate chips 1/2 c. nuts, chopped (optional) Mix butter, brown sugar, egg yolk and vanilla. Stir in flour and salt until well blended. Spread in rectangular pan. Crust will be soft. Use hands to smooth in pan. Remove from oven when crust turns light brown on top. Immediately place milk chocolate chips on top. Let stand until soft. Spread with knife (like icing). Sprinkle with nuts. Cut in small squares while still warm. Bake at 350 degrees. Makes 6 to 7 dozen squares. |
