SLOPPY JOE ON CORNBREAD 
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 c. chopped bell pepper
1 grated carrot
1 c. tomato puree or ketchup
1 tsp. black pepper
3/4 c. chopped onion
1/2 c. chopped celery
1 (#2) can or 16 oz. tomatoes
3/4 tsp. salt

Brown ground beef; stir in onion, bell pepper, and celery. Fry until brown. Add carrot, tomatoes or puree. Stir well and season to taste with salt and pepper. Simmer 1 hour. Serve over hot buttered cornbread.
