CHOCOLATE PECAN PIE BARS
1 1/4 c. flour
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 c. butter
1 c. finely chopped pecans
1/4 c. butter
1 sq. (1 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate
3 beaten eggs
1 1/4 c. packed brown sugar
2 tbsp. water
1 tsp. vanilla

In mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and cinnamon. Cut in 1/2 cup butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in pecans. Press into bottom of ungreased 13 x 9 inch pan. Bake in 350 degree oven for 10 minutes.

In small saucepan combine 1/4 cup butter and chocolate. Stir over low heat until chocolate is melted.

In small mixing bowl combine eggs, brown sugar, water and vanilla. Stir until well blended. Add chocolate mixture. Pour over crust. Return to oven. Bake 20 additional minutes or until set. Cut into bars (makes approximately 36 bars). Variation: Add bourbon instead of water.
