RAISED DOUGHNUTS
2 pkgs. yeast
1 c. lukewarm water
1 c. lukewarm milk
1/2 c. butter
2/3 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. lemon flavor
6 or 7 c. flour

Put yeast into lukewarm water. Scald milk and let stand to cool. Then blend together butter, sugar and well beaten eggs. Put in nutmeg and lemon flavor. Put the milk in the yeast and water and add 3 cups flour (until it is easy to handle).

Put in a warm place. Let rise until double. Roll out and cut with doughnut cutter. Let rise again. Fry in deep fat. Frosting may be put on if desired. Makes approximately 50 doughnuts.

DOUGHNUT GLAZE:

1/4 lb. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. milk

Boil this 3 minutes. Then add powdered sugar (just enough so it's a little runny yet). Dip the doughnuts while frosting is still warm. Keep over low heat while dipping.
