DATE NUT CANDY 
3 sticks butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar, packed
Pinch of salt
1 lb. pitted dates, chopped
1 can shredded coconut
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped pecans
5 1/4 c. Rice Krispies

In large double boiler, melt butter on low heat, add next 5 ingredients and cook 6 minutes. Remove from heat, add vanilla flavoring and pecans. Stir in Rice Krispies. After mixture becomes cool enough to handle easily, roll into long thin rolls and coat each roll with powdered sugar. Wrap in wax paper, then in foil. Refrigerate until ready to use. Cut into thin slices.
