SEASONED GREEN BEANS | |
3 to 4 c. frozen green beans 1/3 c. chopped onion 1/3 c. chopped celery 1 tsp. butter or olive oil 1/8 tsp. garlic powder or to taste 1/8 tsp. salt or to taste Few grinds black pepper 1/2 c. canned chicken broth, diluted according to directions Cook onion and celery in butter or oil until onion is clear and celery softened. Add remaining ingredients, cover and boil gently until beans are just tender, up to 10 minutes. Home frozen tender-type beans will be ready sooner. I start tasting mine after 4 minutes cooking time and find they're usually done in 5 to 6 minutes. These are so good, you'll never miss all that bacon fat! |
