HOT CROSS BUNS | |
1 c. milk 1/3 c. shortening 1/2 c. sugar 1 1/2 tsp. salt 2 pkgs. yeast 1/4 c. warm water 5 c. flour 2 eggs, beaten 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon Scald milk. Add shortening, sugar, salt. Cool. Sprinkle yeast over water. After 5 minutes add to scalded milk mixture. Add cinnamon, 1/2 of the flour and eggs. Beat well. Add enough flour to make a soft dough. Knead 10 minutes. Let rise 2 hours in greased bowl. Add 1 cup raisins (optional). Make balls 1 3/4 inches. Brush with diluted egg yolk. Rise until double. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. |
