COTTAGE CHEESE CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Dash of salt

Mix together the shortening, sugar and eggs. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder and salt. Blend the flour mixture into the shortening/egg mixture. Add the milk and vanilla. Mix. Spread in a greased pan.

COTTAGE CHEESE FILLING:

3/4 lb. cottage cheese
1 c. sugar
3 eggs

Beat eggs, cottage cheese and sugar. Spread over the dough mixture in the pan. Cover mixture with 1/2 cup raisins. Bake at 350 degrees until cheese is firm.

I haven't made this yet, but was looking through all of my mother's old recipe books (and I'm 63) for a cake recipe she made with a cottage cheese topping. I've searched books and Internets and this is the only thing that looks like it may be very similar! She even occasionally put raisins in it! I can't wait to try it!
