FRESH MEAT FIESTA
1 lb. raw beef (approx. half of a heart), trimmed and ground
1 lb. raw beef, calf or pork live, ground
1 lb. raw ground beef
2 lb. (approx. 4 well packed c.) cooked chicken, boned and ground
1 (15 1/2 oz.) can pink salmon, ground
1 (4 1/2 oz.) can baby shrimp, clams, sardines or other seafood, drained and ground

Grind all meats in food processor food grinder. Combine in large mixing bowl and knead until all meats are thoroughly mixed. Roll into balls (small, medium or large, depending on the size of your dog). Freeze the fresh meat balls on a cookie sheet until hard. Package in freezer bags or other suitable container for freezer storage.

To Serve: Remove amount required from freezer and allow to thaw at room temperature, defrost in microwave or warm in oven on lightly greased surface.

When beef heart is available (usually at better grocery stores or in butcher shops) it is usually already slit and cleaned, but it is necessary to cut away the fibrous outer covering. Reminiscent of steak, beef heart is ordorless and easy to work with. If beef heart is unavailable, or if you choose to substitute, most other meat varieties can be used (ground lamb, tripe, kidney, frankfurters, or cooked and ground turkey, pork or game meat).

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
