1 basket strawberries
3-4 firm bananas (sliced)
1 basket raspberries
1 basket blueberries
1 (3 3/4 oz.) pkg. chopped pecans
1/2 of 15 oz. pkg. raisins or a bunch of grapes
1 (3 3/4 oz.) pkg. vanilla pudding
1 sponge or angel food cake
1 1/2 oz. brandy
Grand Marnier
Whipped cream with 1 tsp. brandy

Mix fruit and nuts. Layer cake, fruit, liquor. Spread pudding on top. Top with whipped cream. Chill 1 hour.

Grand Marnier may be omitted. You may want to toss bananas in a little lemon juice or fruit fresh to prevent browning.

English Trifle

Sorry, I come from an English family and we never put blueberries or raisins or grapes in trifle. It is raspberries or strawberries, and we use ladyfingers or pound cake sliced into fingers. Nor do we add nuts, unless it is one almond slice for luck at a wedding. Also we use custard, not pudding. Shame on this recipe!
