LASAGNA 
1 lb. Italian sausage
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
1 lg. can tomato paste
1 sm. can tomato sauce
2 cans mushrooms, sliced (use the juice too)
1/2 chopped green pepper
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. sweet basil
1/2 tsp. oregano
1 tbsp. parsley
1 tsp. salt
Black pepper to taste
16 oz. lasagna noodles
1/4 c. Parmesan cheese
12 oz. grated Mozzarella cheese
1 lb. carton ricotta or cottage cheese

Brown the sausage and ground beef together; add seasonings and green pepper in a deep saucepan. Add tomato paste, tomato sauce, and mushrooms. While this is simmering, prepare the lasagna noodles as usual. Arrange sauce and lasagna in layers in a 11"x16" baking pan. First, put a small amount of sauce in bottom of pan. Arrange one layer of lasagna in parallel strips. Pour sauce over lasagna, then sprinkle grated cheese and add Mozzarella cheese. Put layer of cottage cheese. Sprinkle oregano over each layer. Start over again with lasagna, sauce and cheese until ingredients are gone. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 45 minutes.
