HARD CHRISTMAS CANDY 
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. white syrup
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. flavoring
Food coloring

Have buttered jelly roll pan ready. Mix sugar, water, syrup and salt. Heat mixture slowly, stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved. Bring to a rapid boil, cook to 300 degrees (hard crack stage). Add coloring and flavoring quickly by rocking the pan so as not to sugar. Pour into buttered pan. Break in pieces when hard, before it gets too cold to break.
