CHRISTMAS HARD CANDY 
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. white Karo syrup
1/2 c. boiling water
Pinch of salt

Stir together following but never stir again. Boil slowly until it has hard crackle or hardens in cold water. Add flavoring and shake pan to mix. 1 tsp. anise (green coloring) 1 tsp. wintergreen (blue coloring) 1 tsp. clove (yellow coloring) 1 tsp. peppermint (white coloring)

Pour on greased platter and as it cools, cut in small pieces.
