SAUSAGE/BEAN SOUP 
1/2 lb. Polish sausage (or smoked sausage)
1 can chili beans with gravy
1 lg. onion (chopped)
3 to 4 carrots (chopped)
3 to 4 stalks celery (chopped)
Beef stew seasoning mix (1/2 to 1 pkg.)
3 to 4 tbsp. barley
1 can (or frozen) corn
1 can green beans
Picante sauce
Chili powder to taste (optional)

Cut sausage in half lengthwise, slice thin. Brown; drain on paper towel. Return to pot and cook with onion until onion is tender. Add carrots, celery, seasoning mix. Add water and let simmer 2 to 3 hours. Add barley, corn and green beans. Add 3 to 4 tablespoons to taste picante sauce last few minutes.
