LOUISIANA BREAD AND BUTTER
PICKLES
 
6-8 med. cucumbers
2 lg. white onions
1/2 lg. green pepper
1 1/4 c. cider vinegar
1 1/4 c. sugar
1/2 tbsp. mustard seed
1 tsp. turmeric
2 tbsp. salt
1/8 tsp. cloves, optional

Wash cucumbers and slice as thin as possible. Chop onions and pepper. Combine vinegar, sugar and spices in large preserving kettle and bring to a boil. Add drained cucumbers. Heat thoroughly, but do not boil. Pack while hot in sterilized jars, seal and process for 10 minutes in water bath.
