BRAISED SWEET AND SOUR CABBAGE | |
2 lbs. cabbage 2 tbsp. butter 1/4 c. finely chopped onions 3 tbsp. brown sugar 2 tbsp. red vinegar 1/2 tsp. anise seeds 1. Cut the cabbage into wedges. Cut away and discard core. Place wedges on a flat surface and slice, cutting them crosswise into shreds. There should be about 10 cups. 2. Heat the butter in a casserole and add the cabbage. Cover and cook for about 5 minutes. 3. Add the brown sugar, vinegar and anise. Cover closely and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 1 1/4 hours. 8 servings. 75 calories. |
