FRUITCAKE COOKIES 
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter
4 eggs
1/2 c. grape juice, wine or whiskey
3 tsp. baking soda dissolved in 3 tbsp. buttermilk
1 lb. mixed fruit or dates
1 lb. cherries
2 lbs. pineapple (1 natural--1 green)
4-6 c. nuts
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt

Add 1 cup flour to cut fruit.

In another bowl, cream sugar and butter. Add grape juice, wine or whiskey. Dissolve soda in buttermilk and add to creamed mixture. Add egg yolks, remainder of flour with spices. Add all to fruit. Beat egg whites stiff and add.

Drop on greased cookie sheet. Bake 300 degrees for 20 minutes. They do not have to be brown or hard -- so watch and remove from oven when they appear done (when they spring back when touched).
