BEEF STEW 
1 lb. beef stew, cut in 1 inch cubes
Salt and pepper
3 tbsp. salad oil
1 qt. boiling water
Worcestershire sauce
2 med. potatoes, cubed
Yellow turnip, cubed
1/4 c. flour
1 chopped onion
1 clove garlic
2-3 carrots, sliced

Place meat, salt, pepper and flour in bag; shake to coat meat. Heat oil in heavy 4 quart saucepan. Add meat and brown on all sides. Add 1 teaspoon salt.

Saute onion and garlic and add to meat, plus boiling water and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer 2-3 hours until meat is tender. Add vegetables and simmer another hour until vegetables are tender.
