1/2 c. soft butter 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed 1 1/2 c. flour 2 tbsp. milk 1/4 c. chopped semi-sweet chocolate pieces Confectioners' sugar Chocolate filling Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream butter, salt and vanilla until light and fluffy, adding brown sugar gradually. Blend in flour, milk and chocolate. Shape into 1 inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Make depression with thumb. Bake 10-12 minutes. While still warm, roll in confectioners' sugar. Cool, then fill depression with Chocolate Filling. CHOCOLATE FILLING: Over hot, not boiling water melt 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate pieces with 1 tablespoon shortening. Stir to blend. Cool slightly, then blend in 2 tablespoons white corn syrup, 1 tablespoon water and 1 teaspoon vanilla. |
