WHOOPIE PIES 
1/2 c. cocoa plus enough water to make a paste
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk
2 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
Pinch of salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Cream filling (below)

Mix cocoa and hot water in one bowl. In another bowl, cream shortening and sugar. Mix flour with salt and baking powder. Add to this alternately with milk. Mix well. Combine with cocoa mixture. Drop by large tablespoons onto greased cookie sheet, heaping spoons equal to be able to fill and put together. Flatten each spoonful a little to even cakes for filling. Bake at 350 degrees for 14-18 minutes.

CREAM FILLING:

3 c. powdered sugar
1 lg. jar marshmallow cream
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. butter
Pinch of salt

Beat together until smooth and thick.
