BUTTERSCOTCH COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. flour
3/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. white sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. hot water
1 c. shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs, beaten
1 c. pecans
1 (12 oz.) pkg. butterscotch bits
2 c. oatmeal-quick oats

Cream sugar and shortening. Add beaten eggs. Add flour mixed with soda. Add chopped nuts, oatmeal, vanilla and hot water. Add butterscotch bits. Drop by teaspoon onto cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes 4 dozen.
