APPLE TORTE 
8 1/2 inch spring-form pan.

PASTRY:

1 stick butter, cream together with 1/3 c. sugar
1 c. flour
3 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Blend, then press in bottom of pan.

FILLING:

8 oz. cream cheese
1/3 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla

Blend. Spread on pastry.

APPLES:

3 apples, peeled and cut
1/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
Pinch of nutmeg

Stir. Pour on top of cheese filling. Bake at 425 degrees for 20 minutes, then 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Add 1/2 cup blanched almonds after 20 minutes of baking.
