MISSISSIPPI MUDD 
2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
4 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
1/3 c. cocoa
3 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
1 bag small marshmallows

Icing:

1 1/2 sticks melted butter
1/3 c. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1 box confectioners sugar
1/2 c. evaporated milk

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and beat. Sift flour, cocoa and salt. Add to creamed mixture. Add vanilla. Pour into well-greased 13 x 9 pan.

Bake 35 to 40 minutes at 325°F. Remove from oven and spread marshmallows evenly on top. Put back in oven until melting (about 5 minutes). Meanwhile, make icing by sifting sugar and cocoa; mix well with butter. Add milk and vanilla; mix well with electric mixer. Needs to be thick. Remove cake from oven and ice while hot. Let stand for 2 hours before serving.
