MOCK FRUIT CAKE 
2 c. boiling water
1 box seedless raisins
1/2 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt (level)
4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 c. cold water

Pour boiling water over raisins. Cook slowly 15 minutes. Cool add remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour in 9 inch tube pan. Well greased and floured. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours or until done. This cake is good and will keep for months in a dry place.
